Alkiviadis Kapokakis

Alkiviadis Kapokakis is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete in co-supervision with the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS/FORTH). The subject of his thesis concerns labour relations in the Greek-owned fleet, the labour market and the social security of maritime workers during the transition from sail to steam. The PhD thesis is part of the research project ERC Starting Grant Seafaring Lives in Transition, Mediterranean Maritime Labour and Shipping, 1850s-1920s (SeaLiT).  As a postgraduate fellow of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies, he has worked on programs for the classification and digitization of archival material concerning the economy and economic policy of the Greek state during the 20th century.
